Heritage Trail:
I'm currently
talking with the Bibb County Department of Parks and Recreation to
let me place a cache along the greenway.
As part of the
NewTown Macon Project this 1.6 mile (one-way) trail is part of the
planned trail up to the old water plant and maybe even Juliette but
who knows when it will be finished and is a welcomed attraction to
this site. Once merely a simple gravel boat ramp used to launch The
Great Rubber Ducky Race (you locals know you remember that) and
nothing but sand everywhere else this trail is a nice improvement
to the area. Hopefully more will be done to create a "river-walk"
atmosphere such as maybe adding a shop or restaurant or two along
the back edge of the trail up next to the interstate, then this
place would become highly popular among tourists and locals. It
would also be a great place to place a cache or two.
Due to the many
different answers for lights got, to get your smilie you must take
a picture of yourself at each end of the trail. For the north end
you must have you, GPS, I-16 overpass, river and Rose Hill Cemetery
(yes its possible, if you cant figure it out read the hints) and at
the south end you need you, GPS, the road bridge, river and the
Park across the way. The hike round trip is about 3.2 miles. And if
you don't mind the extra .2 mile walk you can walk to Gateway Park
across the river and log another find. However you it possible for
those who know a thing or three about the trail and local roads you
can get your pictures without doing hardly any walking!!
Happy
Hunting!
