This cache has been archived.

Ttepee: I finally made it out here on Thanksgiving day to retrieve this cache and rescue the TB tommy. We'd like to thank all of our visitors to this cache for sharing their fun with us the past 15 months. I will rehide this cache in a new area.

Geocache Description:

This a multi-cache hidden in Walter G. Merritt Park on the Ct./NY border on Haviland Hollow Rd. . The coordinates I have listed are for the parking lot ... the first cache must be found with the clues below.

The first cache is a small medicine vial it contains the coordinates to the first cache container. This part of the forest has a lot of fallen trees(tornado damage few years ago). To find the first coordinates you will need to keep your eyes open for the entrance gates (overhead) the trees have provided. After you have passed through the three gateways you will need to consult with the work of the Avian woodman to continue your quest. If you reach the stone wall before the Lean-to you have not looked hard enough.... go back to the last gateway and start again.**RECENTLY ADDED** Be aware you will complete the most strenuous part of the hike before finding the first container... when your not huff'n and puff'n quite as hard you can start looking for the clues. Also the final gateway no longer exists so you may need to rely more on the bounceback from the leanto than the gateways themselves.

Be sure to stop and check out the waterfall and pools here at Tucker's Run before running off to the next cache. Much of the trail follows the stone walls of an old farmstead , the foundation of an old stone bridge remains upstream reminding us of this areas past life. A stage coach route ran through this area....I can't help but wonder what it was like back then.

The next cache is a small clear plastic box (approx 6x4x2) with a green lid. It contains a few trinkets and a few scratch off lottery tickets. I'd like to keep up the lottery ticket in there so please only one per group and if you stop at the deli for a drink before you head here pick up a scratch off and try your hand at trading luck. If you don't have one don't worry scratch one anyways and good luck. You will also find here the coordinates to the next and final cache.

The final cache is a retired 50 cal ammo can, it is stocked full of goodies for the young and young at heart. Please take something and leave something to keep the fun going, and be sure to sign the log book and take a photo of your group with the disposable camera... I'll let you know when they are developed.

Clues are included with coordinates in the first two caches. The best advice I can give you is to look to the trees for the answers. All but the last can be located from the trail just by going slowly, thinking of the clues and observing the area. Once located they are a mere hop skip and a jump from the trail. Happy and Safe, Hunting!
