We were in the thrall of Creekbed Cliff and Bridge Cache when we placed this, and this cache can be properly called a mix of the two. Some may call it a rip-off, we like to think of it as an homage. We also felt the Route 1 cache-trail needed a few more beach finds.
If you like a challenge in figuring out cache locations from very odd-looking map coordinate locations, stop reading right now and go do the cache!
The sane cacher may read on.
Access to this cache closes at 6 PM, and requires an entrance fee to the park hosting it. Dogs are allowed on leash in this particular area, although dogs that don't like water won't want to come along and most dogs may not be able to make the last few feet. Medium-sized to large kids who can handle the wading won't have a problem with this, but leave the little ones on the far bank.
This is a short walk. The terrain rating is high only because of the required water crossing and some rock scrambling at the end.
The cache area is likely to have people about. However, the cache itself is in a place well out of view. The cache is a 7.62 MM (small) green ammo box with an official geocache sticker on it, and is only partially concealed by some rocks. It's dry but in an area that will get wet in heavy rain, and it may be occasionally inaccessible due to heavy water flow in the waterway in question.
Be careful of high water and loose rock!!
Coordinates given above are the result of a dozen settled observations, but range of coordinates observed, for reference, are: 36 00.530-535, 121 31.117-122. Eight bars of satellite signal and an EPE of 16' on the most reliable readings.
Here we provide some unencrypted yet cryptic hints:
The cache is in the same relationship to a human-made artifact as that in Bridge Cache, only more so.
Think three-dimensionally. Look up, then look down.
The water that runs by Bridge Cache runs by this cache.
