Geocache Description:

Blue Star Memorial Highway Markers

This a locationless Geocache; there is no box to find. Do not use the coordinates above. To log this cache you must locate and photograph a Blue Star Memorial Marker. Standard locationless rules apply...post a picture of the marker with the GPS in view and the person(s) who found it, identify the state and the memorial highway where the marker is located, post the coordinates where it is located. After World War II, a nationwide movement was started to pay tribute to the nation's armed forces by designating various state and national routes as "Blue Star Memorial Highways." It began in 1944 with the planting of 8,000 Dogwood trees by the New Jersey Council of Garden Clubs as a living memorial to veterans of World War II. The following year the National Council of State Garden Clubs adopted the program and began a Blue Star Memorial Highway system, which covers thousands of miles across the Continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii. The Blue Star became an icon in World War II and was seen on flags and banners in homes for sons and daughers away at war.
