Never forget 9/11/01.
Like so many others, our patriotism was rekindled by that
cowardly attack. For us, the flame still burns brightly.
DO NOT CRAWL OVER ANY OBJECT. THE CACHE CAN BE REACHED FROM THE
PAVED AREA.
This cache is hard to find, or so we think. There is a large
object which the cache may or may not be hidden in. DO NOT CRAWL
OVER THE OBJECT! Respect the signs that say "KEEP OUT" The
microcache can be reached from the concrete paved area. The museum
is open 10am-4pm daily. The cache can be accessed anytime.
This cache is the first in a series of patriotic American themed
caches. The Commerative (formerly Confederate) Air Force, Arizona
Wing, where this cache is located, is a volunteer, non-profit
organization dedicated to preserving World War II aircraft in
flying condition. It proudly displays the B-17 "Sentimental
Journey" considered to be the most authentically restored flying
B-17 aircraft in the world today. There are only 13 B-17s in
flyable condition in the world., 8 in the US. Other aircraft on
display include a German Heinkel HE-111, B-25 Mitchell bomber, SNJ,
C-45, and a Grumman Guardian. An interesting piece of Arizona WW II
history can be learned at N33* 27.139 W111* 44.116 on the south
side of the monument.
Please be careful, black widows have been sighted by cachers
looking for this cache.
We do not yet possess the technology to post pictures, however,
the first person to log this cache was kind enough to post photos
of three of the planes on display. Check out his log.
