I picked up Goosey Moosey at the Poor
Mother Goose cache on January 11th. I promised Mother Goose
that I would help him find a good place to build his own nest.
Goosey Moosey is the, well let’s say, the clumsiest of all of
Mother Goose's goslings. Moosey is frequently the last in line.
Moosey tried to learn to swim but found that walking is the
easiest and required less effort.
You can park in the large gravel lot off of Oak Knoll Road (a
Wisconsin Rustic Road) at N42 44.278' W88 16.684'. Watch for the
old silo alongside the road... you can't miss it. From there it is
a short hike to the cache. First, head up the path that starts on
the other side of the road. You'll soon have to leave the main path
and walk on a narrow trail up the ridge. (Watch out for the barbed
wire across the trail. Clumsy Moosey tripped on it... oh wait, that
was me.)
Cache container is a small 4" square lock & lock container
covered with camo netting. Note that the netting over the cover is
secured by a small rubber band... please put the netting back over
the cover as you found it (if the rubber band thing isn't working,
let me know and I can tape it). There is room for small trade
items, small TBs, and coins.
The cache is in a popular hunting area, so don't be surprised if
you see some hunters. Most of the seasons are now closed so it
shouldn't be a big deal, but I did pass by two rabbit hunters as I
made my way up the ridge to place the cache.
