Geocache Description:

This is a worldwide locationless cache in search of the illusive MERMAID.

There are claims she has been seen and heard, and is modeled, painted and carved, in many places. I would like to collect pictures of sculptures, carvings or paintings of mermaids that can be seen in public places, around the world and if possible the stories that belong to them.
PLEASE, no Little Mermaid Toys, Videos, Posters or any other TOY or commercial product.
PLEASE DO NOT USE ADVERTISING POSTERS OR SIGNS.

The Waypoint and this photo is of a mermaid, carved in wood on a pew in Zennor church, Cornwall, UK. Zennor is in the far west of England, very near Lands End. A wild and beautiful part of the country, full of myth and legend. There are several stories of this mermaid. One story was that “a beautiful young woman in a long dress used to sit at the back of the church listening to the singing of a chorister, Matthew Trewhella. One evening she succeeded in luring him down to the stream which runs through the village. Together they went down the stream and into the sea at Pendour Cove, now known as the Mermaid’s Cove. It is said that if you listen carefully on warm summer’s evening you can hear the pair of lovers singing together”.
