March 8th Cachers Gathering in Western NY. Main focus of course is to meet other cachers and have fun, however this will also be a gathering to discuss the formation of a NYS Geocaching Organization, and also the release point for the 1st Annual CannonBall Run TB Race.
Event is being held Saturday March 8th at Byrncliff Resort at the intersection of Rt 20A and Humphrey Rd in Varysburg, NY the above coordinates are for the parking lot. Start time is 1:00 pm EST in the Sierra Room.
The resort has 20kms of groomed trails for cross country skiing, 8kms of which are lighted at night. We have been offered package rates of:
$20.50/person which includes dinner,
one after dinner drink, unlimited
trail fee, tax, gratuity.
or
$28.50/person which includes all of
the above plus rental fee for either
cross country skis or snowshoes.
menu selections are 8 oz Strip Steak, Center Cut Pork Chops, French Fried Shrimp, Roast Turkey, Fish Fry, or Broiled Fish. All meals include choice of Potato, tossed salad, rolls and butter, and either coffee or tea.
Children under 10 yrs old do not pay trail fee so you might be better off to let them order off the menu instead of using the package rate, especially if you have your own equipment.
Also included is entertainment for the evening if you choose to stay later, the band that night is Jony James, and they play strictly Blues. (I personally have never seen them play, so I can't tell you any more than that.)
There are locker rooms avalible (bring your own lock) for changing into and out of snow gear.

Rates are $55/night with a double and single bed, and $65/night with two double beds. Also avalible is one jacuzzi suite if you are so inclined.
As mentioned above there will be discussion later on about creating a NYS Geocaching Organization, so bring any comments, info, questions, ideas that you may have.If you know of anyone with experience creating and running this type of an organization, and can convince them to come along for the day contact me and I will gladly buy them dinner for the chance to "pick their brain".
And last but not least! All the bugs for the 1st Annual CannonBall TB Race will be released from this event! The Bugs will be released to any willing cacher in random order. Keep watch on this page to see which bugs will be released at this event.
