Hundreds of people
pass by here on any busy weekend from Spring to Fall. Very
few stop to appreciate the history of the area, and this
location. The petroglyphs on the rocks have been there many
generations, since before Europeans came to the southwest.
This land is sacred to the Fort Mojave and Chemehuevi tribes
of Native Americans.
Due to the nature of this
sacred site, an actual cache is not appropriate.
This site is
accessible only by boat!
The 200 yard walk up from the river is not all that easy, but not
very difficult. A short section of the trail goes over some rocks
and through some thick rushes. The trail is not suitable for very
small children, or those with limited
mobility.
Take a minute and listen to the voice
of the wind in the rocks. Admire the handiwork and history of the
native peoples of the area.
To validate the find, email me the name
of the Chemehuevi band listed on the marker. A photo showing either
the petroglyphs or marker would also be fine. Do not post the
answer (even encoded)in your log, or it will be
deleted.
Hope you find this worth the
time!
