uphill climb, baby
No escape? Why? Because you're going to have to climb, climb,
climb. No escape! There are two entryways on either side of this
canyon. At approximately N 37° 51' 968" / W 122° 14' 814"
there is one access to the area. A long, uphill climb-- this one is
longer and much more circuitous. Expect an hour or more of
roundabout trails on this hike. Or you could bushwhack directly
along your pointer's path but not recommended. At N 37° 51'
761"/ W 122° 14' 643" there is a more conveniently located
trailhead which is closer to the cache. Remember that if you're
huffing and puffing you're in the right direction (up) so if the
treecover causes you to lose your signal--don't worry. If you're
breathing heavy, you're on the right path. Dogs can be brought here
off leash.

Find...
A View afar...
Looking south and west, you'll probably pass here if you take the hard and longer path.
Closer view...
More views to expect from the alternative HARD path-- bits of the trail you 'lazy' guys took is off to the left
A Nice View
Expect this type of view from the general vicinity of the cache.
Is that the UC Berkeley Campanile?
Yep-- that's it!
Hard path view
A slightly closer view of the difficult, longer path to...?
Good spot to hide...
...but no. You have to pass here to get to the cache, folks! Keep on keepin' on.
Lots of trees...
...will obscure your signal-- but remember: no pain no gain. The trees will thin out...won't they?
Steep part...
...and lots of eucalyptus detritus makes the trail pretty slippery underfoot.

January 6 by Dalvey (99 found) Had to pass this by on my way up due to it being a popular resting spot and others resting there. On the way back I looked about. First thing I found was a large glass salad bowl hidden in the bushes. (??) Then, I saw the cache, almost out in plain view, almost screaming out from so little cover. I was amazed that it had not "disappeared" given the popularity of this spot, the length of time this has been here, and the need for many to attend to the call of nature along this route. After signing in I added a little more cover. You can still see it if you are looking for it. Added a CD, hope someone might like some relaxing music from a distant land...

December 6, 2009 by J5 Crew (9925 found) This was one of many fun finds for me today on caching run stretching from Hercules to Berkeley. It's always nice to visit an original cache. The container shows some wear and tear and needs to be closed carefully to ensure it being water tight (I found it unlatched) but all of the contents and log were in good shape. Great views from the GZ... TNLNSL and TFTC!

September 27, 2009 by dw (2335 found) Good long hike on this hot day! I was in Berkeley to drop my daughter off at a birthday party, and this looked like a good cache to go for. I didn't realize quite the climbing involved - I did about 1000 feet of elevation gain today! But it was fun!Grabbed the geocoin to move along. Thanks for the cache!
