Located in Amherst, 'Walton Woods Park' features 2 lakes, bike and nature trails as well as an 'old growth' forest.
Located in Amherst, 'Walton Woods Park' features 2 lakes, bike and nature trails as well as an 'old growth' forest.
This 52 acre park is little known but has really cool features: hiking, biking and cross-country ski trails, playgrounds hidden in the deep woods, a lake and a pond. Its most unique feature is a 6 acre 'old-growth' forest with huge 150-year old beech and tulip trees.
This winter-accessible cache has 2 legs. The first container is an Altoids tin, the final container is a .30 cal. ammo box packed with toys for girls. It is actually the 2nd part of a series of family-oriented caches. Its counterpart is the 'Boys Will Be Boys' cache in the same park.
The park officially closes at sunset, however local residents regularly use it for evening walks and jogs.
NOTE: please be very discreet as you seek and retrieve the cache as it is near the trail.
