Geocache Description:

Not to be confused with Saving Silverman.
This cache celebrates my second anniversary of being involved in Geocaching.

My mother grew up in Wilmington and during the summer she used to take riding lessons at Bitterman's. They owned several horses and had a stable on the east side of town. As part of her “riding lessons,” she needed to first catch the horse in the pasture. The horse would see her coming, and invariably run down the hill and walk across the creek to avoid being caught. Bitterman's Pasture has now been converted to a forest preserve: Forsythe Woods. This is a standard in-the-forest-hidden-off-the-path cache. Parking can be found by entering the preserve at N 41° 17.924 W 088° 07.364. Once you get to the main area, you have a choice: the more scenic path follows that of the horse (hill, creek), or an easier path goes the other way. I would suggest making the full circuit, starting the path of the horse, and returning from the other side. The cache is only about 200-250 feet off of the trail. If you stay on the trail longer than you would expect to, you might just catch an animal trail in to the forest.WARNING! The part that is off trail is dense undergrowth, with no discernable trail. I placed this cache in the last days of winter before there was any growth. This cache may increase in terrain and difficulty exponetially with the growth of the foliage. The path was also EXTREMELY muddy when I was here in March.Have fun, and let me know what you think!
