The Bayley House was built during the Gold Rush to serve the
Railroad.
It is also known as "Bayley's Folly". Read the kiosk to learn more.
The coordinates listed for this cache are NOT the location of
the cache.
They are just your starting coordinates. They are also near the
kiosk and parking area.
For this cache you will have to find information on the kiosk
and use it to get the cache coordinates from the starting
coordinates.
Take the decimal portion of the minutes of latitude of the
starting coordinates (656).
Treat it as a whole number and add to it the two digit year that
the Bayley House was completed (18yy) then multiply the number of
rooms by 2 and add that product to it too.
In other words 656 + yy + (2 x rooms)= result
Now substitute the result back into the decimal minutes of
latitude.
In the kiosk there are many pictures but one contains the
information you will need to find the longitude of the cache. That
is the picture in the lower left hand corner of the kiosk.
In the lower right hand corner of the picture is a number in the
format ##-P88-#.
Take the decimal portion of the minutes of longitude of the
starting coordinates (893).
Treat it as a whole number and subtract the two digit number then
add the single digit number.
In other words 893 - ## + # = result
Now substitute the result back into the decimal minutes of
longitude.
This will give you the coordinates of the cache.
The cache is a 1.7 Qt Rubbermaid container
Warning: In the Summer months (Sticker Season) there are
lots of stickers between the first and last stages. So wear your
gators and keep your dogs out of the weeds. Other months of the
year this cache is dog (and sock) friendly.
