Orientation
N 38 19.007 W 077 30.285; located near the South Bound I-95 Rappahannock River Crossing.
Situation
All day you have been traveling south toward Fredericksburg in pursuit of a worthy adventure. As you cross the Rappahannock River, you notice a billboard for Shoney’s on the top of a large cliff; overlooking a rock quarry. This area is known to have a series of fingers and draws, which contain caches of interest.
Mission
On order, at a time of your choosing, you will proceed to the Fredericksburg Rest Stop located at N 38 19.007 W 077 30.285 and conduct a terrain walk of the local area, finding various checkpoints and great scenery along the way, IOT become familiar with the terrain and your gear.
Execution
Intent:
This mission is intended to give you familiarization with a 5 Paragraph Order (SMEAC), the Military Grid Reference System (MGRS), and conversions of navigation datum. For simplicity, some unnecessary elements of the order are left out.
Scheme of Maneuver (SOM):
Travel south on Interstate 95 towards Fredericksburg to the rest stop located at N 38 19.007 W 077 30.285 Once you have reached the rest stop, proceed to Start Point (SP) A1: 18S TH8092743933 and execute your mission IOT locate, close with, and find Check Point (CP) A2: 18S TH 8086244132. Once you have reached CP A2 you will be given coordinates to CP A3 and CP A4. Once you reach CP A4 your mission is complete.
