Geocache Description:

This cache is the sequel of the 'Analyze This!' cache ;-)

The coordinates posted on the cache page are missing the fractional portion of their minutes. The actual cache is within 1 mile of the posted coordinates.

In order to obtain the complete coordinates, you will need to solve the 'Location' puzzle. But finding the cache is only half the fun... To open the cache, you will also need to solve the 'Combination' puzzle.

Both puzzles can be solved using an algorithm based on the Fibonacci Sequence: 0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21... As you can see, the sequence starts with 0 (1st #) and 1 (2nd #). Adding these two numbers yields the 3rd number of the sequence. The 4th number is the sum of the 2nd and the 3rd numbers, and so forth... Each sum in the sequence corresponds to an iteration of the 'Fibonacci' algorithm.

A) 'Location' puzzle.

Fractional part of the latitude:

Step 1: The 1st # of the sequence is given by the fractional part of the minutes.

Step 2: The 2nd # of the sequence is given by adding the first 2 digits of the degrees.

Step 3: The 1st digit of the degrees is the number of iterations yielding the missing portion of the latitude.

Fractional part of the longitude:

Step 1: The 1st # of the sequence is given by the fractional part of the minutes.

Step 2: The 2nd # of the sequence is given by the first digit of the degrees.

Step 3: The 2nd digit of the degrees is the number of iterations yielding the missing portion of the longitude.

B) 'Combination' puzzle.

Step 1: The 1st # of the sequence is given by the 1st digit of the degrees of the longitude.

Step 2: The 2nd # of the sequence is given by flipping the digits of the degrees of the latitude.

Step 3: The 2nd digit of the degrees of the longitude is the number of iterations yielding the combination of the cache.

At this point, you have everything you need to go after the cache. It contains a very small logbook, a pencil and a few nice trade items. The shape of the cache is not revealed to keep the hunt interesting but you can always use the hint if you really need help ;-)

The cache is winter-accessible.

Please put the cache back -EXACTLY- where you found it.

PS: If you liked this cache, check out the 'Analyze This!' cache.
