Geocache Description:

Located in a county park that was recently re-opened to the public in York County near Williamsburg, VA. Based on Hurricane Isabel destruction, several parts of the park were "closed" for some time, but now have clear trails.

This is a mini, not micro-cache - it is close to Queen’s Creek, not far from Queen’s Lake or the York River in a scenic part of Tidewater Virginia.

Bring a “Virginia Quarter” or two, exchange one of yours for another "New Quarter" from the cache, eventually I want to have all "Jamestowns" in the stash. If there aren't any non-Jamestown Quarters there, email me and I'll come reload with some other states' coins.

The cache is a mini ( .8 cup ) rectangular plastic container and contains one un-circulated Sacagewea Dollar for the first finder and a variety of “New” Quarters. I have included one of my favorite coins as “seed money” - a Jamestown Quarter - since replicas of those three ships are not too far away. The cache only is large enough for coins - Included are a pen, pencil and sharpener - please leave those for the next cachers to use for their log entries.

Please park in one of the two regular paved parking areas - recommend you use the closer one - near the restrooms if the park road is open to the public.

Since the Summer 2003 re-opening and an increase in patrons, please be cautious about entering and exiting the path – it would be great if you could get off/on the beaten trail without being noticed by others.

The last .2 mi on the way to the cache no longer requires that serious "Weaver" work resulting from Isabel - if you were familiar with The Army obstacle course event by that name. Accordingly, the terrain rating has been lowered after widespread path clearing.

Please replace the cache and leave it just as you found it after you sign the log.

Directions to Park:

From Interstate 64 take exit 242-B (Yorktown-Colonial Parkway-Water Country USA) to Route 199. Stay on Route 199 until the Colonial Parkway intersection. Enter Colonial Parkway towards Williamsburg (West). Exit the Colonial Parkway at the Queens Lake intersection. Turn right onto West Queens Drive (about 200 feet). Make an immediate left onto Lakeshead Drive (first street on the left). Follow this road until you reach the park entrance.

From Route 143 at the Route 143-Penniman Road intersection. Turn East (Magruder Elementary School will be on the corner). Turn left at Hubbard Lane (first street on your left). Just after the overpass, make an immediate right onto Lakeshead Drive. Follow this road until you reach the park entrance.

Have a good cache hunt. JK-n-VA
