Geocache Description:

Visit a historic native stone castle near South Mountain Park.

UPDATE: After I created this virtual cache, I revisted it and saw that there is a locked gate that prevents access to the signs, unless you visit at times when the castle is open for tours. The times when the castle is open for tours are Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm.

Explore Mystery Castle near the main entrance to South Mountain Park. This is an odd three-story castle built out of stone, adobe, automobile parts and petroglyphs. It is a Phoenix Point of Pride. Mystery Castle is internationally known and has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Life magazine, McCall's, Catholic Digest, National Enquirer, and on TV shows such as "That's Incredible".

To record this cache, report the words on the gold-on-black sign on the fence at the above coordinates, and report the words on the white-on-green sign on the fence at N 33° 21.387 W 112° 03.748. Send this information to me at Ken@Highpointer.com.

If you have a camera, you can also claim a find for this cache by posting a picture of yourself in front of castle with the "Phoenix Point of Pride" sign in the picture. If you post a picture, please do not include the information on either of the two aforementioned signs.

The castle is open to visitors for tours Thursday through Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm, October through June. Admission fees for tours are $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for people over age 65, and $2.00 for children aged 5 through 14. For further information, call 602-268-1581.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you do not have a camera and you choose to send me the answers to the questions, you must get both answers correct, or I will delete your log entry. Please decrypt and read the hint so you don't go to the wrong sign.

If you do take and upload a picture, you must take a picture of yourself at the "Phoenix Point of Pride" sign that resembles the Arizona state flag. Other signs do not count. Please see a picture of the sign that qualifies here.
