The Play's the Thing Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

kiwimonster: Friends, Romans, Countrymen....
Due to a Comedy of Errors we have to archive this cache.
Alas, poor Yorick.

Many thanks to the cachers who took the time to solve this puzzle and find the cache. We especially appreciate the time so many finders took to write detailed logs on the cache page.

Some of our favorite e-mail exchanges were with friend who were working on the puzzle. We are amused at the number of curses, invocations to Jeremy not to approve another of our caches, and different names we were called (all of which are wonderful when coming from friends).

And so the curtain closes on The Play's the Thing.

Geocache Description:

The coordinates are NOT the location of the cache, but it is the general location, because the manuscript was probably intended to visit this sort of place on its way to Broadway.

We were cleaning out our attic recently and found this set of partially-written acts to one or more plays. We were surprised that this non-mathematical collection of words was lurking among the prime number programs, the clones, and the pictures of kiwi's fictitious litter-mates.

Being curious people, we examined it further. Hmmmm. With just a little bit (OK, a lot!) of insight and exploration (and thinking outside the box), the dialog led us to the close vicinity of a perfect place to find a cache. We were disappointed that we didn't find anything there, but we knew we could fix that. To make a long story short, there is a cache there now.

Cache contents to start include: two small books, a sawed-off imitation fractal-brand First Finder Wooden Spoon of Success and Happiness, some bagged confetti, a few kiwi pens, and a logbook. The container is too small for a CD.

To sweeten the pot, we placed a $10 gift certificate to Powell's for the first finder willing to claim it.

May 1, 2003: Found another line in Act V. Picture has been updated.

A few notes;
(1) The tree cover is such that satellite reception is quite poor, so the coordinates might not be dead-on. We took about a dozen readings on a few different occasions and present the average of the believable coordinates.
(2) The cache is reachable with no bushwacking, although it's not on a main path.
(3) The cache is in the obvious spot, but it's very well hidden to protect it from local aliens. If you found it easily, make sure you've got the right cache since there are caches or letterboxes that are pretty close to it!
