Pot o' Gold Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

travisl: Ahh... the poor poor cache. I found Geocaching.com on December 28, 2001, and was surprised to see CameraThyme's cache less than 500 feet from my office. I found the cache that day, the beginning of a long and ongoing adventure.

CameraThyme archived her cache (GC2D7C) on April 10, 2003, with 101 logged visits. The next day, I placed this cache in the same spot so my first ever find would endure. Since then, there have been an additional 170 visits to this cache.

Progress marches on, however, and on January 11, 2004, Garumph noted that some of the trees had been removed. Three weeks later, I confirmed it -- construction was coming, and this cache might be in the way. Construction stakes went up in March 2004, plans were posted nearby in January 2005, and now, for the first time in 3½ years, this half of Celebration Park is without a geocache. Now there's a vaccum that won't last long.

If this cache wasn't found by construction workers, it's now under several tons of dirt with heavy equipment treading all across it. The new Federal Way community center is coming, and perhaps this cache will become an unknown time capsule, to be found many, many years from now. Feel free to log it, future archaeologists. Take something. Leave something.

This cache, and its predecessor, had 28 travel bugs visit, and folks made 271 visits to this spot, in just under 44 months. It was a good run.

Geocache Description:

Why ''Pot o' Gold''? Because I placed this cache at the end of the rainbow.

This cache, in Federal Way's Celebration Park, is at the site of the first cache I ever found. When CameraThyme decided to archive her cache, I just had to replace it.

Tree cover may make GPS readings erratic.
