You are MacGyver - master of ingenuity, science, all round nice guy, and special agent for government think tank The Phoenix Foundation.
You are currently on holidays in remote south America helping the people of this area implement sustainable farming systems. Your peace and tranquillity is interrupted by your old friend Jack Dalton who lands on the field in his rusty old plane. He hands you a letter from your boss Pete Thornton, Director of Operations for the Phoenix foundation.
Your mission begins when you open this letter….. (see links below)
MacGyver is the master of inginuity, who always lived by the saying "There isn't anything you can't accomplish with a swiss army knife and your wits."
You'll need to call upon all of your MacGyver skills to complete your mission, which will span several continents!
Remember that MacGyver always solves a puzzle or sticky situation on the spot, he never goes home and thinks about it, or comes back tomorrow!
It’s most important that you come equipped like MacGyver, and use your wits. The more you research the MacGyver character the easier the cache may be. The 5 rating is because you will need and/or construct special items to complete the cache, but we won’t tell you exactly what they are, you’ll find out, that’s the spirit of MacGyver!
The first finder will be rewarded with a genuine Swiss Army Knife, the original model as used by MacGyver (it’s not in the cache, it will be mailed)
There will be a secret winners page for you to see what went on behind the scenes and how other teams solved the puzzles.
The cache is filled with lots of MacGyver type stuff, including a signature EcoBag.
There are rules:
- Please don't cheat or brute force anything, that's no fun and not in the spirit of MacGyver. Break anything and EcoNic will get MAD!
- Leave NO TRACE of how you solved the challenges so as not to give the game away for future cachers.
- The cache area is currently open from early morning until 5pm, you most likely won’t be able to attempt the cache outside these times
- Not all waypoints will be available to all teams at all times!
- In the spirit of other difficult caches, please log your progress (good or bad) on here for others to enjoy.
- There is more than one way to solve the puzzles. However, some ways give better results than others. If you find yourself having to guess, then you are using the wrong method!
Take a picnic basket and BBQ lunch. It’s a nice place to ride bikes, so take them as well if you like.
