Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are for parking for the 1st 2 legs of this cache. As tempting as it may be to call 696 a parking lot during rush hour, you need not do anything unsafe to log this cache. Check out Mapquest’s aerial photo to find the parking lot.

This multicache takes you to a series of 3 parks in Oak Park and Southfield that are unique in the Detroit area. Almost everyone in the Metro Detroit area has driven by these at one time or another, but don’t give them much thought. You can check out the story of how these came about by visiting this website: (visit link)

Park hours, legs 1 and 2: 6am-9pm. Legs 3 & 4: dawn to dusk.

There are 4 legs to this cache, the 1st 3 are virtual. The final cache is a mini cache, about 4”x2”x1” at a nearby park. It contains a logbook & pen,and my ‘Pay it Forward’ project (details below). Not much room for anything else.

The cords for the first leg are: 42 28.561, 83 11.460
How many seating ‘wall’ sections make up this circle? This number is A.

The 2nd leg is at 42 28.6x8, 83 11.7y2
x=A-1, y=A+1.
The park at the 2nd leg has been adopted by several groups. On the sign, how many letters are in the first word of the first adopting group are there? This number is B.

Parking for the 3rd and 4th legs is at: 42 28.831, 83 12.381

The 3rd leg is at 42 28.7x3, 83 12.3y4
x=B+4, y=B+5
How many trees are there inside the circle? This number is C.

The final cache is at: 42 28.6x1, 83 12.3y0
x=C, y=C+1.
You can get pretty close to the final cache site using a series of sidewalks and trails from the location of the 3rd leg. Please stay on the trails for as long as possible.

Now, for ‘Pay it Forward’….

It isn’t a requirement to participate in ‘pay it forward’ to log this cache, though I’d like to see everyone who finds it do so.

‘Pay it Forward’ carries foreign coins… finders are invited to take a coin, no trade required. If you choose to take a coin, I ask only that you ‘pay it forward’ by doing a little something charitable above and beyond what you would normally do. Donate canned goods to your local food bank, help out with an event sponsored/hosted by your place of worship, donate blood, whatever you choose. If you'd like to share what you did to 'pay it forward', feel free to include it in your log.

All finders of a team are invited to take a coin, as long as everyone pays it forward. Adults are allowed to help younger children with this requirement.

If there are 5 or less coins in the cache, please let me know so I can restock it.

As a side note, looking up information on the coin itself is something the whole family may enjoy. I’ve found some interesting tidbits about what was going on in the countries at the time some of the coins were minted, and hope you do as well.
