Geocache Description:

C O L O U R F U L

You do not need to go to the posted coordinates!

If you can decode the coordinates of the first waypoint hidden in following verse, you will be well on your way to locating the cache. The coordinates are in the form Ndd mm.mmm Wdd mm.mmm. (The N,W, and decimal points are not encoded.) The digital root of the sum of these 14 digits is 9. (For a definition of digital root see the note below.)

The easiest parking and access is close to a bone yard!

At the first waypoint is a large man-made metal object which is certainly out of place. (Some of you may be able to find a connection between this object and the posted coordinates.) Somewhere on the object is the name of an Ontario town. Letting A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 , .... Z = 26 , convert the town's name to a number, X, by summing the numbers corresponding to the letters of the name. The digital root of X is 8.

The cache is located at a distance of X + 309 meters on a bearing of X + 130 degrees true from the first waypoint. One relatively easy way to get to the cache from the first waypoint is to follow close to the stream bed which leads right to the cache.

IF

Rudyard Kipling's Verse

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust
yourself when all men doubt you,
But make
allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't
give way to hating,
And yet don't look too
good, nor talk too wise:

 If
you can dream-and not make dreams your master;
If you can think-and
not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with
Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear
to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted
by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And
stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one
heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one
turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve
your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on
when there is nothing in you
Except the Will
which says to them: "Hold on!"

If
you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk
with Kings-nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men
count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the
unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours
is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And-which is
more-you'll be a Man, my son!

The cache is located at a very prominent multi-trunked maple tree. The cache is about 18 inches off the ground. The cache container isan ammo can. The cache has a real skull guarding it. The cache contents are colourful, so please try to make colourful trades.

Good Luck and have fun!

NOTE: Digital root: Consider the process of taking a number, adding its digits, then adding the digits of numbers derived from it, etc., until the remaining number has only one digit. The digit obtained is called the digital root of n. For example, the sum of the digits of the number 87965 is 35 and the sum of the digits of 35 is 8. Therefore, the digital root of 87965 is 8.

Please do not include spoilers in your logs. Logs with spoilers will be deleted immediately. If you believe there are any problems with the cache setup, please advise me privately by e-mail so that I may fix them if necessary.

Colourful language may be appropriate if you don't wear waterproof footwear. The large man-made metal object is within 20 kilometers of the posted coordinates.

Additional Hints (Encrypt)

[puzzle] There are two key colours that you probably see frequently close together on your way to work.
"mustang" has one of them, but "horse" has none of them, and "pony" has two of them!
