Geocache Description:

Park at the Taylor River road trailhead. Gateway to Snoqualmie Lake and beyond. The start of the rough trail is just beyond the Big Creek Bridge...a worthy destination in it's own right! Roughly a half mile and 800 feet to the cache from there.

Ok, folks this is an Offset cache. Coordinates will take you to an old campsite along scenic Big Creek. You will be following a very rough trail approx. 800 feet upstream to the cache area. Once at the coordinates, the camp is just beyond a couple of very large rocks that you have to go through. The camp itself is under a big cedar tree on an obviously flat area for a tent. The trail sort of peters out after the camp.

The cache is very close by...I wasn't able to get a fix in the heavy canopy. It's just uphill of the camp and is within sight of an old fire pit. Your geonose should be able to spot the hide location. It's a tupperware container with a lock-snap lid.

The story of the title is that my friend John and I went through an hellacious bushwack in our attempt to bag Dream Lake which is just another 0.80 miles or so. It took us something like 4 hours to go .58 miles!!!!!! The brush was SOOO thick and much of it had thorns. Being veteran hikers, we plugged on and on until 345 pm and were at the 3200 foot level...just a mere 0.20 away as the crow flies to the lake. We knew, however, it was time to turn around. It was 7 pm before we hit the Big Creek Bridge and the easy 5 mile walk back to John's old truck. WE got back to the car at 940 pm. Man, what an adventure!!! So that's why the cache is where it is. Lugging that box to the 3200 foot level and back was a HANDFUL!!!! The bushwack was so brutal that we ran out of water and I was glad I had my trusty Pur purifier with me. Boy, that creek water was good! I've posted a couple pics from the bushwack, one of waypoints taken, someone else's pic of Dream Lake, and one of Big Creek Bridge. Have fun!

Note waypoint 17 on map pic is approx. cache area. We turned around right around approx. at PTHLSTR waypoint that I'd pulled from my mapping software. You can see all the points I took so we could find our way back in the THICK BRUSH!!!!
