As of now, I hate traveling long distances. I used to love all that
travel. You know: airports, planes, rental cars, hotels,
restaurants, etc ... , but not anymore. Now I want to stay local,
maybe once in a while to another state, but never international
anymore. Here's why. Remember that commercial about the guy who
saved his company a bunch of money by switching to another phone
company? Well, I am that guy. Or I was. Because I saved that
company an average of 122,066.45 dollars per year, I was on a track
to be promoted over my boss. And he didn't like that. So before it
was promotion time, he planned 2 separate trips for me, going
North, South, East and West, to all these impossible to reach,
dangerous and exotic places, thousands of kilometers apart, all
over the world. What I was doing there was not important. He just
wanted me to be there to meet with some prospects. But I figured
that was just a trick to keep me out of the office, out of sight of
the big boss, and in the middle of places I could get in trouble.
See for yourself.
The first trip, he sent me:
- first to Madrid
- then to Cairo
- then to Vientiane
- then to Brussels
- then to Moscow
- and finally to Dubrovnik
The second trip, he sent me:
- first to Bucharest
- then to Cairo (again!)
- then to Baku
- then to Rabat
- then to Astana
- and finally to Vaduz
Can you imagine? This was driving me nuts. And my wife too. She was
so worried that she wanted to check on me at every destination. So
she had to handle all these time zones, even date lines, and then
dial what looked like a million numbers to call me. We were both so
stressed out, that right in the middle of both trips, while I was
back home for just one day, we decided to hike out to place a
cache. We like that place, because it makes us dream to win the
Super Lotto!
After the 2 trips, I quit. That made my boss happy of course.
The only good news: I collected so many frequent flyer miles, I now
can go on vacation for free!
Meanwhile, I hope you'll enjoy finding our cache.
PUZZLE HINT: Though I had to go to Cairo twice in 2 weeks,
that's only an average of once per trip.
