Geocache Description:

Elyria Canyon, located on Mt. Washington near downtown Los Angeles, offers a 35-acre retreat in a beautiful and natural setting. Come and explore the canyon's native Southern California black walnut community, representing one of the few remaining stands of this species within the Los Angeles basin. Historically, the area offers a glimpse into the city's ranching era and subsequent development — allowing the observer to see the impact such activity has had on the natural environment. Take advantage of this visually enticing natural area in the heart of the urban environment.

You can get to this cache by staying on trails almost to the end. There is no need to bushwack, which is a good thing because there is a lot of poison oak, though none near the cache.

This is a very dog friendly park, with many off leash pets.

The cache is in a 7"x5"x2" clear tupperware container containing the usual cache stuff. There is a small FTF certificate.

If you are also into letterboxing, there are two letterboxes hidden in this park - hidden by my daughter and her friend.

Park in lot off Wollam Road.
