Geocache Description:

Note: This cache is not abandoned. I plan on doing a maintenance hike in the early spring. Note: The trail at sometimes simply disappears. Be careful. Not good for older dogs! Make sure your pups have plenty of water if you bring them. Great Scenic hike along river. Great for dogs that like to swim when your done! Be careful of trail it seems to just disappear. Follow the river, climb over fallen trees.

Start on the HARFORD COUNTY SIDE OF THE RIVER
Start on the HARFORD COUNTY SIDE OF THE RIVER
Put on your billy goat shoes and head on out. This Cache is located at Gunpower Falls State Park in Fallston. While the access trail is pretty tame at first it does get a little rough and at points is very close to the river. This may not be the best cache for a small child or a not so outdoor skilled dog (also park regulations do require all dogs be leashed). Please allow for at least 2 hours to do this cache, depending on your pace, and remember that the park closes at dusk.

Access to the cache should be made by parking near the intersection of Bottom Rd & Guyton Rd. You will see an area with parking where many people swim. Facing the river the trailhead is about 75 yards up the road to your left (Going with the flow of the water) You'll see a small area of light rapids, head in and start heading up. To save you a lot of trouble in the long run the cache is located on the Harford County side of the water (as is the parking area). Follow the trail that is closest to the river, there is a point where it will go Up hill and seem to meander away from the Way point. The trail WILL at some point come within 50 yards of the cache, when it does is the best time to head for it. It is advisable that you bring a small pack with at least water and a small first aid kit as this is a little bit of a hike on a trail that is at times a little rough. As the name implies the theme of this cache is the "10 essentials" for the outdoors. The cache is in a Green Ammo Can If possible please attempt to trade keeping with the theme of the cache, or trade something from the Boy Scouts. This is not required but it will help the cache maintain its long lived theme.
