Geocache Description:

"Challenge" returns!

This cache has retuned from the grave, thanks to some great ideas from Txhipowr on how to “virtualize” the portion(s) in Austin nature preserves! The first few legs are the same as before, but the rest have been altered to comply with Austin Parks and Recreation access restrictions. As with the first “Austin Challenge”, this hunt will take you to a number of interesting places in Austin, some of which may be a little different than you find during your typical cache hunt. Follow the instructions below, and have fun!

Instructions

For the first two legs (and ONLY the first two), use the following key:
A = 44
B = 955
C = 43
D = 17
E = 136
F = 672
G = 48
H = 887
I = 22
J = 19
K = 573
L = 11
M = 003
N = 104
O = 23
P = 118
Q = 51
R = 487
S = 17
T = 406
U = 43
V = 88
W = 410
X = 16
Y = 19
Z = 650

Leg 1
Go to the starting coordinates listed above. Enter, and ride to the top. Find a letter signed by Queen Elizabeth. What is the name of the person who was the subject of her letter? Using the letters of his last name (in order) and the key above, the location of leg 2 is: N 30 ___.____ ‘ W 097 ___.____’

Leg 2
Once you arrive at this location, you must determine the answer to this question: "On a hot, sunny Independence Day back in 1982, a young lass named "maky" fell for a young lad with an unfortunate nickname. Who was her love on that day?" Using the first four letters of his name (in order) and the key above, the location of leg 3 is: N 30 ___.____ ‘ W 097 ___.____’

From here on, you’re on your own. Good luck!!

Notes
1) Two of the legs are only accessible during limited hours, so plan accordingly: Leg 1 can only be reached from 9am-5pm daily (including weekends). The location of another leg closes at either 6pm or 9pm, depending on the day. So don’t go night caching. ;)

2) One of the legs will take you to a nature preserve somewhere in Austin. The Austin Parks and Recreation department is VERY touchy about access to this preserve, so please follow the access rules – that means no bikes, dogs, horses, etc. Foot traffic ONLY. Most importantly - DO NOT bushwhack in this preserve. The nature preserve leg is “virtual”, and you DO NOT need to leave the trail at any time!.

ENJOY!
