Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

This cache is hidden in a beautiful spot about 100 yards off the well-traveled Hyas Lakes/Deception Pass Trail and across the primary (and very cold!) creek that feeds Little Hyas Lake from the north.
After a 15-mile drive down unpaved road No. 4330 (begins at the Salmon la Sac Guard Station) to the Hyas Lakes/Deception Pass Trailhead (Trail No. 1376 -- parking coordinates: 47 32.702N, 121 05.862W), begin your hike along the beautiful shores of Hyas and Little Hyas Lakes. With Cathedral Peak towering to the west, total walking distance from trailhead to cache and back is about 7 miles – nearly flat and a great day hike for families. The only challenging terrain is the last 100 yards or so. Requires a little bushwhacking and crossing a 20 foot wide creek via fallen log.

This cache was hidden during a 3-day hiking/camping trip over July 4th weekend, 2003. A great time was had by all and we’re happy to share this beautiful and unspoiled spot with fellow geocachers.

The cache is a clear Rubbermade container with a white top, wrapped in a green garbage bag. It is marked as the “Hyas Lake/Cold Water Creek Cache”. If you fall off the log while crossing the creek, you’ll immediately understand the name! Initial contents of the cache: logbook and instructions, penny whistle, Kuzco toy, Peter Pan figure, Indian figure, wooden catch toy, Monsters, Inc. toy.

Enjoy the beautiful Alpine Lakes Wilderness Region!

Found with Sprucejam after a great hike to Hyas Lake with the rest of the Geekfest 7 crew. Hard to find but between the two of us we did it despite the rain and the impending darkness. This was a great hike, and much easier on the thighs than the Thorp Mtn excursion / PainFest yesterday.

Wildlife count for today: multiple anthills, 2 quail, one tiny green frog, 3 deer.

TN, dropped a devil ducky and some other swag. Given the rarity of visitors to this cache, we decided to keep the TBs in hand.

BTW, it is not recommended to drive 40 on the long bumpy road into and out of this area, but we did anyway. It made the painful drive over much more quickly!

Fairly easy quick stop on the way up to Robin Lakes (and beyond) for a few days. As noted, all the creeks over here are dry so it was a fairly straight shot right to the cache. TNLN. Thanks for the break!

I grabbed this one on my way out from Granite Mountain Lakes up above Robin Lakes. As previously stated the cache container in cracked, but all essential parts are high and dry. It was weird as all the the creek beds in the general vicinity were bone dry, mot a lick of water anywhere. There is a great geo-trail, going pretty much right to where the cache site is. The coordinates are pretty much right on the money. Thanks for getting me out in the woods for some great fun.TFTH

Patt and I found ths one while camping with her relatives at Fish Lake. Her Roslyn relatives have been coming up every year since the early 1900's. The clues were great to locate this one. The clues and GPS took us right to it. Someone else signed the log in June of this year. The cache was well hidden, but as pointed out, the container is cracked.
