In keeping with our plan to vary the locations, this one is south of I-20. The location is a park operated by the Newton County Parks Department, and is home to the Factory Shoals cache:

This is a family-oriented event for everyone interested in geocaching in the State of Georgia. Visitors are welcome. In September, we had 17 first-time visitors... let’s see if we can beat that in October!
There is a parking charge of $2.00 per car. Use the "honor system" box on the gatehouse if it is unmanned.
We will be meeting in the picnic shelter at the coordinates listed. If you have a folding patio chair or camp chair, please bring it, as seating is a bit limited. There is a brick BBQ grill if you want to arrive early and cook out.
In addition to the shelter and the scenic/historic area along the river (see cache listing), facilities include a grassy field, a playground, a nature trail, and a "scenic overlook".
Agenda:
*Meeting starts at 3:00 PM sharp, with a (very brief) business session
*Topo Map Reading by mtn-man and Good Scout
*Talk on the historic area followed by a guided tour of the ruins by Park Director Mike Beyer (tentative)
*More on the agenda to come...
There are six caches within 20 miles of Covington, including the one at the park. Go to geocaching.com and search ZIP code 30209 for the list.
