Memorial Cache is Out There 10-4-03 (Approved on 10-6-03):

The big Memorial Cache has been placed out there somewhere.  It has been approved and can now be accessed it at this link:  Lost Treasure of Manny A. Cacher.

Also note that this cache page will be archived as soon as the Memorial Cache is active and all of the travel bugs have been transferred to it.

Thanks for all the great comments from those who attended the picnic and thank you to everyone that helped out to make the picnic a success (That was some awesome food!).  Also, I want to congratulate all of the winners of the GPS/Compass Course, Field of Dimes and the Team Leaf Competition.

Post Event Update 9-6-03:

The Picnic was a big success and a lot of fun was had by all.  Splashette, Ruscal and I would like to thank everyone for the great participation.  We had a blast.  I have to head off to a wedding reception in Redlands and I won't be home until tomorrow, so I won't be able to post the pictures until then, but make sure that you check back to see them.  I should be able to get them on the page by tomorrow afternoon.

Can I log this cache as a find even though it is mine?  I should be able to since I attended.

Event Update 9-5-03

The final plans for the picnic are coming together nicely.  The response has been great and it looks like we will have 185+ people showing up.  We look forward to seeing everyone there tomorrow.

Event Update 9-3-03

It's only a couple more days until the picnic and it is really shaping up to be a great event.  Splashette, Ruscal and Rocket Man have some great events planned for the day and there are some great prizes too.  Plan to have lots of GPS batteries in reserve.  Here is some event information and the highlights of the planned agenda:

Important notes:  Please bring your GPS, pens or pencils and something like a clipboard to write against during the events.  Also note that radios will not be necessary for any of the events.

Park Information

We have reserved Area 3 of the park, which has a covered pavilion, a couple of huge BBQ's and a bunch of large picnic tables.  There is a great playground for the kids and bathrooms are close by.  In addition to the picnic area, there are a bunch of good hiking trails that start out right next to the pavilion.  Dogs are allowed in the park and on the hiking trails as long as they are kept on a leash (we hope to see Gromit at the picnic this year).

Event Information

Potluck - The event will be a potluck again this year.  Please bring your own drinks, an item for the grill, and something to share.  The BBQ will be cranked up around noon, and there will be plenty of grill space for everyone.  BBQ utensils will be available.  Please check the current list of potluck contributions under Event Updates when deciding what to bring.

Geocacher Photos - There will be a photo shoot area set up for pictures of all of the geocachers who show up at the picnic (including friends and family).  These photos will be posted to the web site and we encourage everyone to participate.

Team Competition - There will be a team competition event with prizes given out to the winners.  Note: Please bring your GPSr.

Geoswag Donation - Please bring a geoswag item to donate for the memorial picnic cache to be placed after the picnic.

RSVP List

Please post a note on this page letting us know if you plan to join us, how many people you will be bringing and what type of item you will bring for the potluck (Appetizer, Side Dish or Dessert).
