Idaho Peak Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cache-advance: Hello,

During a routine cache page audit, it was discovered that your cache apparently no longer exists and/or your page has been disabled for an extended period of time. The disable feature is meant to be used only as a temporary measure to alert cachers to a potential problem that will soon be corrected.

As such we will be archiving your cache. If you wish to replace the cache at some point, just email me with the cache name, and waypoint ID and we will unarchive it for you.

Thanks.

Geocache Description:

This cache is along the famed Idaho Peak hiking trail in the subalpine and alpine. Trailhead is generally accessible from early July to early September only. The access to the trailhead is challenging but the hike itself is short and easy, suitable for children and oldsters.

Take highway 31A to the Sandon turnoff. The Idaho Peak road begins in Sandon and will be the most hair-raising part of the journey. It climbs for about 12 km up the mountain. It's bumpy, steep and narrow, with pullouts to pass other vehicles here and there but not always where you need them. The parking area at the main Idaho Peak trailhead will give you a hint of the views to come. This is a low-impact cache along a very heavily used trail in the subalpine. Only short people will even need to step off the trail to reach the cache. Original contents of the cache are:
  • tiny violin
  • carabiner keychain with compass
  • page of musical stickers
  • travel pack of wet wipes
  • key rack
  • horace horse TB
  • gel pen set
  • trailside cookbook
Conspicuously absent from the cache is a pencil-and-paper logbook. We will remedy this as soon as homeschool_mom can work up the guts for the drive to the trailhead again. On the other hand, if the FTF cacher would be willing to donate one, that would be great :-).
