Blue and Gray Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

scooterj: There was nothing at all salvagable in this cache, so I built an entirely new cache in a nicer location not too far away. See GCBFD6 (Blue and Gray v.2) for details.

Geocache Description:

Located alongside a trail in Blue and Gray Park.

Short walkOff Trail HikingRestroomsNo drinking water No shorts Not accessible
A fairly short walk unless hiking to both of this park's caches. Long pants suggested due to ticks and thorns. Restrooms at parking areas but no drinking water.

Blue and Gray Park is a nature preserve located near the site of the Battle of Lone Jack -- Missouri's bloodiest battle of the Civil War. The park is largely undeveloped and is used primarily by equestrians, backpackers, cross-country skiers, and Boy Scouts.

Portions of the park's many trails are geared more towards horses than hikers, so wear long pants and shoes that you don't mind getting muddy. Watch out for thorns. Small kids probably won't enjoy this one due to the amount of overgrowth in some segments.

The cache is a Rubbermaid container in an area where reception may be tricky, some triangulation and the clue should help.

The trailhead is near a picnic area close to the cache site. If you are up for a good hike you can also reach Lone Jack Civil War Trail cache from this same trail system.
