Deer ME on Soule Ridge Multi-cache
The Maine Family: Due to lack of activity, we have decided to remove this cache. Perhaps we can relocate to an equally remote location in this vicinity if we see that geocaching remote sites becomes more popular. Thanks to those who did make the effort.

Remote location at the end of a gravel road in forested deer wintering area. Soule Ridge is in the northern part of T7 R8 WELS.
This cache is off the beaten path at the end of a gravel logging road south of Millamagasset Lake. The surrounding forest is a deer wintering area and a great place to see them when they congregate during periods of deep snow. The landowner has erected two "deer exclosures" or fenced areas to demonstrate the effect deer and moose browsing have on the regeneration of the forest. Look for the informational signs describing the project. Use caution driving on the logging roads and yield the right-of-way to any trucks you meet. Good snowmobile trip in the winter.
Because some of the logging roads you need to travel do not show on most maps, the route to the cache will be given as a waypoint, which represents a road intersection, and a compass bearing from the waypoint. Follow the road indicated by the compass bearing to the next waypoint and so on until you reach the sign. (You will see several other roads off to the side but keep going straight until you hit the next waypoint.) The coordinates for the cache are printed on the back of the sign.
To get to the starting point, travel northwest on route 159 from Patten toward the Matagamon gate of Baxter State Park. The first waypoint is ~1/2 mile beyond the bridge crossing the Seboeis River.
