Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Multi-Cache located in a park in Arlington. First two stages are very geoferret friendly. Last stage is questionable.

" Tombstone "

12/22/02 - Please note the bridge has been fixed on the UTA side.

This is a multi-cache all within one park, with very minimal walking. You must use the coordinates for this cache page to lead you to the 1st Stage. You will need to decrypt this stage to complete your Latitude coordinates. After finishing the 1st Stage, precede to the 2nd Stage coordinates written below. You will need to decrypt this clue to get your Longitude coordinates.

1st Stage: The cache page coordinates will take you to a Historical Marker along the sidewalk. You're looking for the coaches name:

The coach's name was: Easterling

The Latitude coordinates are: N32 43.

2nd Stage: The coodinates for the second stage are:

N32 43.716

W097 07.018

The coordinates for the second stage will take you to a spot along the fence line outside a graveyard, inside the park. Please do not enter the graveyard. From outside the fence look for a tombstone with McBride on it. Look for the child's name that lived from 1902-1904. Take the FIRST name of this individual and decrypt it to find the coodinates to the final cache:

The child's name was Dewey

The Longitude coordinates are: W097 07.

Use the following to decrypt the names:

A=4 B=1 C=0 D=7 E=9 F=3 G=5 I=2 J=8 K=6 L=2 M=7 N=3 O=4 P=4 Q=5 R=1 S=0 T=9 U=0 V=4 W=8 Y=3 Z=2

Find the Cache: To find the cache simply finish the Longitude and Latitude coordinates:

N32 43. (First Name of the Coach)

W097 07. (First Name of the Child)

If you get stuck or have any questions please feel free to email me. Cache is a Decon container.

It sure was a long trip, but he finally made it. Now we can sit back and rest, until next December when he decides he needs to find another 1000 before the end of January. Oh well, it makes for some good memories, and good laughs. And we end it on a very great cache. Thanks for placing this for everyone and keeping it alive for almost 10 years. T4TC SL

Made plans to meet up with TO and T4x4 after work to grab the oldest cache around and log our milestone of 4000 caches found. TO arrived first and gave us good parking coords. Two creek crossings and we had the info for the first stage. Back across the creek and found the second stage quickly. As always, we found ourselves on the wrong side of the fence for the final! TO spotted the container and we all signed. One more creek crossing to get back to the vehicle and we were off. Thanks for keeing this one alive, and a big THANKS to TO and T4x4 for the encouragement and for helping us with our yearly quest...

Well, he’s done it again. Yes, SurrenderTheBooty kept his streak of 1000 finds per year alive when he logged this cache today as his 4000th find in 4 years. What’s amazing is that only 60 days ago, he needed 918 finds to do it! But along with his long-suffering compadre toyota4X405, and their significant others, they forged ahead to the final goal. A weekend cache run in Waco, resulting in 342 finds, just about sealed the deal. I felt honored that he would ask me, along with Clint, to accompany him on this milestone achievement. Sorry ladies, I guess it’s a “guy” thing.
Also, this cache is the oldest cache any of us have ever found, and is the oldest active cache in Texas. The cache site was indeed sobering, and a reminder to us all that the indigent and less fortunate should NEVER be forgotten. TN,LN,SL. Thanks!

While in the Dallas area, we found about this cache after finding another older one. We couldn't resist a special trip to go get it. Too bad we came at the cache from the opposite side that we should have. Once we braved the thorns, bushes, etc.we had a chance to look for it. Then there it was - safe and sound in it's place. Thanks for keeping this one going for everyone to enjoy. The park area was beautiful. TFTC.

Neat! Oldest active cache in Texas! Second of two found with my wife at UTA today. Sad about the infants.
