Multi-Cache located in a park in Arlington. First two stages are very geoferret friendly. Last stage is questionable.

" Tombstone "

12/22/02 - Please note the bridge has been fixed on the UTA side.

This is a multi-cache all within one park, with very minimal walking. You must use the coordinates for this cache page to lead you to the 1st Stage. You will need to decrypt this stage to complete your Latitude coordinates. After finishing the 1st Stage, precede to the 2nd Stage coordinates written below. You will need to decrypt this clue to get your Longitude coordinates.

1st Stage: The cache page coordinates will take you to a Historical Marker along the sidewalk. You're looking for the coaches name:

The coach's name was: Easterling

The Latitude coordinates are: N32 43.

2nd Stage: The coodinates for the second stage are:

N32 43.716

W097 07.018

The coordinates for the second stage will take you to a spot along the fence line outside a graveyard, inside the park. Please do not enter the graveyard. From outside the fence look for a tombstone with McBride on it. Look for the child's name that lived from 1902-1904. Take the FIRST name of this individual and decrypt it to find the coodinates to the final cache:

The child's name was Dewey

The Longitude coordinates are: W097 07.

Use the following to decrypt the names:

A=4 B=1 C=0 D=7 E=9 F=3 G=5 I=2 J=8 K=6 L=2 M=7 N=3 O=4 P=4 Q=5 R=1 S=0 T=9 U=0 V=4 W=8 Y=3 Z=2

Find the Cache: To find the cache simply finish the Longitude and Latitude coordinates:

N32 43. (First Name of the Coach)

W097 07. (First Name of the Child)

If you get stuck or have any questions please feel free to email me. Cache is a Decon container.

Cache Logs
November 19 by WingsAndTales (1055 found)
I was in town from Colorado with most of a day open for caching. I have been working on some challenge caches at home that require a lot of old caches. It was great to get the oldest in Texas along the way. I parked at the meters north of the cache and it only took me about 20 minutes to come up with this one. I traded TBs. TFTC

Well! What an adventure we had today! Stages 1&2 were so easy, we decided to up the difficulty and take the road less travelled to the third stage, including a brief dip in the creek, which might have been enjoyable if it had not been: a) 50 degrees outside, and b) preceded by a long drop off a fallen log that my husband was using as a bridge. Not a big fan of testing gravity and things you see working only in the movies, I tried to find an alternative route (other than straight vertical drop) across the creek and managed to get 'bushwacked' in the face, by what I'm hoping was briars and not leftover late season poison ivy. Tree cover was making GPSr bounce all over, (enhancing our nature walk, considerably), when we stumbled across the cache and the 'easy' way out! Luckily, hubby, GPS, and his personal & work cell phones all survived to cache again!! SLTN L:cuckootown pathtag & sig item TFTC!!! -cuckootown

In town for a quick day of meetings. Heading back to the airport took a detour to grab a few caches. This was my first one ever in the state of TEXAS and appropriate as it is the oldest and did it with Trojanhorse. Very fun time doing this today. L-TB and L-bucknuts pencil TFTC-SL
