Geocache Description:

A multi-cache to induce you to explore the interesting and vibrant Brighton Marina.

The co-ordinates take you to a free multi-storey car park. From there I suggest you walk between the various stages. I estimate it will take about 2 hours, though I would be happy to amend the estimate if I am proved wrong. Collect answers to clues on the way to find the final co-ordinates.

On a nice day this is a beautiful walk. But I would not recommend it in a storm or with strong wind (more than force 6) coming from somewhere in the south.

If you need food and refreshment on the way, there are ample opportunities!

Please note that at clues 4) and 5), the GPSr may not be very accurate due to difficulty tracking sufficient satellites. But the clues are clear.

1) N 50°48.499 W 000°06.389
The number of large words on a concrete floor.
These words are not always accessible. But go as far as you can keeping your eyes open as you go. If you come up against a white metal fence without finding the words then turn around and come back. What are you forbidden to do on the right side? (Number of letters in the word).
Answer = A

2) N 50°48.725 W 000°06.186
The telephone number of a restaurant of variable elevation.
Answer = B19C5D

3) N 50°48.573 W 000°06.355
The date that the nearby plaque was placed.
Answer = 24 May 197E

4) N 50°48.786 W 000°06.090
This clue used to say
"When Princess Christina of Sweden was here
Answer = 1F May 19GH"
This referred to a plaque that has been vandalised and is missing.  But the plinth it was on is still there.  Until the plaque is replaced, here is an alternative method of completing the cache.  The plinth in question is in an open space between shops and water.  In the open space there are a number (N) of free-standing lamp-posts each with two lamps.  The section (F-G+F-H) used in the co-ordinates below equals  N/2 - 4.

5) N 50°48.754 W 000°06.139
The number of important items between Sussex County Cricket Club and Ted Dexter (not inclusive). The café is not what you seek, but what the café refers to.
Answer = I

The Cache
I have called this a micro-cache. But it is more like a “midi cache” – between regular and micro. It is a grey box measuring about 14 x 6 x 6 cms with a clear lid.

The idea for the hiding place is borrowed from a geocache I hunted on a recent holiday in the USA. The co-ordinates are N 50°48.AB(C+D) W 000°06.(F-G+F-H)IE But the cache is hidden somewhere where a GPSr does not work. However, there is a logical way to overcome this problem. And it does involve using GPS. In fact, it would be impossible without.

As most finders seem to take two days to find this cache I have increased the difficulty rating.
