Cockburnspath is now bypassed by the main road that used to run right by it. The Memorial is situated on what used to be the A1 across the road from what I'm sure used to be a much busier garage.
It is a rather elegant Celtic style cross on a base with a bronze shield. On the right side of the base a name has been carved into it more recently that the others. According to walb'swick1's log from 7/3/2012 the name was omitted when the memorial was commissioned - thanks for clarifying the situation.
