Geocache Description:

Cache is a small Lock ‘n Lock box. It can be accessed from any part of the Woodland Park, but our suggestion is that you park at the South Inch and take the pedestrian link across the railway bridge from Marshall Place onto Barnhill. It will make for a very pleasant afternoon’s amble.

Barnhill, part of Kinnoull Hill Woodland Park, was farmed up until World War 11. Remnants of the fields are maintained as meadows, adding to the rich variety of wildlife habitats in the park. And the agricultural legacy gives a different character to this part of the woodlands. Some of the grandest, oldest trees in the park are here. Their height and girth suggest some of the oaks, for example, were planted over 200 years ago.

This is intentionally a stand alone cache. (Although it could be seen as a family friendly alternative to GCNDW3: Windy Ghoul, being away from the cliff edge!) Take a camera – there are good views of Kinnoull Tower, and of the Tay as it winds past the Carse of Gowrie to the sea.

Wildlife to look out for include roe deer, red squirrels and peregrine falcons.

Cache contains:
Notebook and pencil
Big Tree Country stamp and inkpad
Cow puzzle keyring
Mini padlocks
