Una facile cache posta sulle prime colline salendo dalla "bassa Novarese".
An easy cache on the first hills you found coming from the "Novara flat land"

Furono i soldati mercenari lombardi del potentissimo signore di Milano, Gasparre Visconti, a dare origine all'antico insediamento agricolo delle Vigane.
Nella metà del XV secolo li aveva guidati in queste terre sino ad allora deserte e selvagge, il giovane e orgoglioso generale Filippo Maria Visconti che già aveva conquistato il castello di Fontaneto.
Sulla cima di un colle a sud dell'abitato di Santa Cristina, Il generale Visconti aveva fatto costruire una piccola chiesa dedicata a Sant'Alessandro, martire protettore di pastori e contadini.
Attorno all'oratorio ai piedi del colle erano state poi edificate le "cassine di sant'Alessandro o sia de Visconti milanesi".
Nel 1700, dopo decenni di abbandono, i padri oblati riaprirono al culto l'antico oratorio delle Vigane.
L'oratorio di stile romanico fu restaurato nel 1792 e ricostruito nel 1930; oggi è un piccolo gioiello nel verde dei boschi e dei vigneti, ambita meta per giovani coppie di sposi che desiderano celebrare il rito del matrimonio nella graziosa chiesetta.

The Lombard soldiers of the powerful Lord of Milan, Gaspare Visconti, were responsible of establishing the ancient agricultural installation of "Vigane".
In the mid XVcentury the young and proud general Filippo Maria Visconti who had already conquered Fontaneto's castle had taken them to these once desert and wild lands.
On a hill peak south of the small village of Santa Cristina, the general Visconti had had a little church built, dedicated to St. Alessandro, patron martry of shepherds and farmers.
Around the oratorio, at the beginning of the hill, the "cassine di Sant' Alessandro" or "cassine de Visconti milanesi" were built.
In 1770, after being abandoned for decades, the oblate fathers reopened the ancient oratorio of "Vigane" to the cult.
The romanesque style oratorio was restored in the 1792 and rebuilt in 1930; nowadays it is a small jewel within the woods and the wineyards, ideal spot for couples who want to celebrate their wedding in that pretty church.
