You can start your walk at the above mentioned parking area. From there you have to follow the so called "Naturfreunde Wanderweg" for aprox 1,5 km one way. On this scenic hike you have some spots where you can get a nice view of the "Burghauser Burg", "Prallhang" and the "Kreuzfelsen". There are also some benches to take a rest or relax for a while.
The path of the river begins to wander back and forth creating meanders, curves. Along each curve, the flow of the river is constantly eroding the outside bank of the meander, while at the same time depositing material on the inside. This is because the area of fastest current in the river is forced to the outside bank in the curves and the slowest flow is on the inside. Faster water carries more sediment, thus causing the erosion.
An old legend tells that once, when the rock still hung above on the river bank, a girl which was left by her lover jumped down into the cold floods and drowned to death. The man was so deeply hurt, that he started to pick some flowers every day and dropped the bouqhet down from the height down to her "grave" in the floods of the Salzach river. Once he tried to pick a flower, which was flowering at the rock edge, the rock moved and he felled down with it into the depth. He found his grave close to his betrayed love, but no peace. Everyday around midnight there where some strange sightings and complaints. In the end there was an iron cross erected on top of the rock to grant peace to his soul.
