In the North of Jordan (North of Ajlun) is located the greenest parts of Jordan
one of the least-known archeological sites in that area is located in the town of "Beit Eyides" in Barkash, the site is called "Jesus Christ cave" which is located near "oil press cave"
very very little information are available about this site (almost nothing)
i am trying to collect some information from the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism, hopefully will get a feedback
the site of the church is vast, you can see a lot of mosaics, some tombs, the nave of the church, the site also overlooks the area of Jordan valley where you can have some really nice views
as for the site of the cave (2 minutes drive from the site of the church), there you will find a big tree, a door that should take you in the cave but it's always locked
the cache is small, holds the geocaching note + a log sheet & a tiny pencil
finding the cache is probably the easiest part, but finding the place itself (this old church) might be a bit difficult, as there are almost no signs at all, i will try to help by giving some waypoints
note: the site can be reached either through the Jordan Valley going North to Pella, or through Ajloun going further North (which is shorter)
note1: the cache can be easily reached by a small car
note2: if you don't know the area very well having a look on Google Earth before going might be very useful
note3: the cache was called Eddie 1 after my new and first baby Edward
enjoy it and i hope this cache will help to introduce more people on this so un-known place in North of Jordan
have fun
