Geocache Description:

Backmuir woods is a 45 hectare woodland cared for by The Woodland Trust in partnership with a management group from the local community.

The mixture of mature and new woodland and the wide variety of trees provide a haven for many kinds of wildlife. Jays, woodpeckers, buzzards, ferns, fungi, roe deer and red squirrels are part of that natural mix.

There are about 9km of trails, including 1.5km on a surfaced, all-abilities track. The remainder being woodland trails which can become soft and muddy after rain, so sturdy footwear is advised. The gently sloping terrain offers views over the Tay to the south and the Sidlaws to the north.

Haggis Hunter is of course a well know 'trig surfer' and he can be frequently observed flailing his arms and legs about anywhere that there might be a hope of a camera at the ready. In fact, he was recent seen next to a canal in Edinburgh trying to stand on top of a goose whilst attempting to strike up this strange pose!

In addition, he has also recently been spotted at the top of Calton Hill doing strange things out in the open and again, in front of a camera. Clearly a valient poser if ever there was one - and definitely someone who is always up for a challenge!

As someone (wonder who?) often says, if anything we say offends you, then do let us know, as we might want to use it again later !

The original cache has gone awol and has been replaced with a regular lok and lok container. The difficulty rating has not been changed to reflect that it now much easier than the original to avoid upsetting D/T stats (honestly - some people really do get upset about D/Ts being amended after they've found the cache!).
