Questo cache si trova nel paese di Calatabiano, posto a 62 metri d'altitudine, a meno di 3 chilometri dal mare Ionio. Il suo territorio, delimitato a nord dal corso del fiume Alcantara, è costituito da una fertile e ottimamente irrigata piana alluvionale e dalle retrostanti colline.
Sul monte Castello, si trova la Chiesa del Santissimo Crocifisso del 1484. Ha forme tardo gotiche, un massiccio campanile merlato e due portali ogivali d’ingresso. Sul fregio del maggiore di questi vi è un’iscrizione di controversa interpretazione recante probabilmente la data d’apertura al culto dell’edificio. Al suo interno si può notare un dipinto di madonna con bambino e la statua del santo protettore San Filippo Siriaco, collocata in una nicchia, per il quale ogni anno, il sabato precedente la terza domenica di maggio ha luogo la caratteristica "calata" di San Filippo.
Per raggiungere la chiesa, vi consiglio di parcheggiare nel waypoint consigliato e seguire le indicazioni per il ristorante "Borgo del Saraceno". Una volta raggiunto e superato il ristorante che trovate sulla destra, vi troverete davanti ad un bivio. Continuate sulla destra prendendo le scale vicino l'edicola religiosa e immettetevi nel sentiero che porta sulla collina.
Dando le spalle alla chiesa noterete davanti a voi il paese di Calatabiano a forma di stella, sulla sinistra Taormina, Giardini Naxos, il fiume Alcantara e la funivia che porta al castello. A destra il vulcano Etna.
