ROQUE NUBLO

Roque Nublo er en vulkansk klippe på øya Gran Canaria på Kanariøyene i Spania. Den er 80 meter høy, og toppen er 1813 meter over havet.  Den er et av øyas mest kjente landemerker, og er et beskyttet naturmonument. Den ligger i den sentrale kommunen Tejeda og regnes som ett av de største naturlige klippefremspringene i verden.  Dette fremspringet av vulkans opprinnelse er spesielt viktig for øyboerne. 

I oldtiden var dette et hellig sted for urfolket.  Det ble erklært som et vernet naturområde i 1987, og som en provinsiell park sju år senere. Den store høyden overgås bre av Pico de las Nieves (Snøtoppen) som med sine 1949 meter er den høyeste fjelltoppen på Gran Canaria.

A natural monument of historical importance.

Roque Nublo is located in the central municipality og Tejada on Gran Canaria and is considered one of the largest natural rock outcrops in the world.  This protrusion of the volcano`s origin is especially important for the islanders.  It is 80 meters high and wxtends 1,813 meters above sea level.  In ancient times, this was a sacred place for the indigenous people.  It was declared a protected nature area in 1987, and as a provincial park seven years later.  The great height is surpassed only by the Pico de las Nieves (Snow Peak), which with its 1.914 meters is the highets mountain peak in Gran Canaria.

From where you park your car, it will be a nice but a little hard way up to the top of the mountain.  A lot of mugglers you will see all over the place.

Roque Nublo se encuentra en el municipio central de Tejada en Gran Canaria y es considerado uno de los afloramientos rocosos naturales más grandes del mundo. Esta protuberancia del origen del volcán es especialmente importante para los isleños. Tiene 80 metros de altura y se extiende a 1.813 metros sobre el nivel del mar. En la antigüedad, este era un lugar sagrado para los indígenas. Fue declarado espacio natural protegido en 1987, y como parque provincial siete años después. La gran altura sólo es superada por el Pico de las Nieves, que con sus 1.914 metros es la montaña más alta de Gran Canaria.
