Renville Park was originally the residence of a wealthy landowner.
You can park at N 53 14.750 W 008 57.751 or follow the road along,
past the Sailing Club and park where the road ends, there is room
for a few cars and room to turn.
The park itself is well worth exploring from the above co-ords.
Things to note in the park are the ruined house of the landlord,
the castle and 19th century stone farm-buildings and the walled
orchard now containing a playground.
In the location where the Marine Institute now stands you would
have once spotted a 500ft mast which formed part of the DECCA
navigation system
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decca_Navigator_System), which served
as an earlier form of nautical navigation before our beloved GPS
became commercially available and superseded it.
