Gone Fishin' (Yamar's unusual #4) Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Yamar: Unfortunately, I went by the cache yesterday and it does appear that while it didn't used to be on private property there is a large sign now saying that it is. This sort of shocks me, as I'm quite sure the road just beyond the sign actually is public property and the boundary line is actually further on (but didn't go searching map archives to find out).

None the less, though this is potentially one of my most favorite caches I've placed, I think it needs to be archived now. Hopefully I'll find a new, similar location in the future.

Geocache Description:

A virtual, an unusual and a traditional in Davis, CA.

Yamar to Spelunk on 2004-04-06: "If this cache is under that lamp post [again], I'm going to scream."

This series of caches is designed with at least one part of each cache being an unusual type of container or hiding device. The series is designed to make you think (sometimes a lot), hopefully laugh, and probably get annoyed. Caches show you about an area, and having multiple points to stop means you learn and see more about your surroundings. Thus, these caches always consist of multiple stages usually involving at least a virtual [with one exception]. The caches to date are:

  1. They eyes have it
  2. O where art thou
  3. Inverted Cache (easiest)
  4. Gone Fishing
  5. Totally Tubular

This cache consists of 3 parts:

  1. A virtual: go to the starting coordinates. There you will find a car bridge with a pedestrian bridge on either side. How many thousand pounds can one pedestrian bridge hold? To get the coordinates for the second stage, take this answer and subtract it from the last digit of each of the following coordinates: N38 32.258 W121 42.817

  2. The unusual: Go to the coordinates you calculated from the first stage. Find the container that hides the coordinates (a 35mm container with no non-standard micro-cache features). Figuring out how to get it is the hard part, and you'll need some tools to accomplish it (and likely some patience (this is fishing after all), dexterity or gymnastic ability (ok, maybe not exactly like fishing)). Please do not ruin the cache while thinking about it (you'll know what I mean when you start to perform an act that could prevent the cache from being retrieved). The hints contain an exact description of the tools you'll need to pull off the job (yes there is a stream near here, but no its not in the water). Note: this part is probably harder than a 3 without the clues, and easier with the clues.
I actually intended to stop here with this part of the cache, but decided at the last second to throw in a third stage as well. Thus the micro container in question has a full log book in it, so feel free to sign it as well as the log book at the third stage.
Important: Please do not put any other items into this stage!!! (the laws of physics sort of require this).
Note: putting the 35mm container back where it came from is more difficult than retrieving it. Please think about this before retrieving it once you've figured out where it is.
  3. CURRENTLY MISSING; DO T FINDOptional: The traditional: Find the (well hidden) 4in x 4in x 1in cheap tupperware-like box. Initial contents included a koosh-ball, a neck strap, a fully-functional mini-phone (requires a headset), log book and a few other things I may have forgotten. If you signed the log in the 2nd part, you don't have to find the third if you don't want to.
  4. FTF goes to Marky! Congrads, as he did it before the clues were present.
