Geocache Description:

A buggy friendly walk along footpaths in the centre of Perth. Can be done by day or by night as is well lit all along. Kids might enjoy spotting all the sculptures along the way.

Our tour starts at Perth’s Old High Street, at the above co-ordinates.

Look out for the shop P.D. Malloch, an old family business, selling both fishing tackle and guns.

COUNT THE NUMBER OF GOLDFISH HERE (Pun intended) .. (G).

Continue east along the Old High Street to the paved High Street. Walk along here, glancing at the pavement as you wander through the pedestrian area.

You are looking for a mosaic set into the pavement

COUNT THE HEADS OF CORN IN THE MAIN MOSAIC.. (C)

A little further on is an Information Board, giving you details of Markets and Fairs of Perth.

HOW MANY FISH ARE ILLUSTRATED HERE? .. (B) (Sometimes just a head or just a tail poking up so be careful!)

Continue to the end of the High Street and cross over to the riverside (Tay Street). Turn left and walk towards the bridge. There is a sculpture here on a green pedestal of a bird of prey catching a fish.

HOW MANY SECTIONS TO THE FISH TAIL ARE THERE? .. (T)

Turn away from the bridge and return along Tay street looking at the artwork along the way.

Closeby is a wall sculpture of a skeleton-like fish, with the word MACNAB underneath. There is also a word above this fish.

HOW MANY LETTERS IN THIS WORD? .. (W)

Continue further along until you reach another Information Board. It records how a woman - Georgina Ballantine caught the heaviest fish on record by rod on 7th October 1922.

WHAT DID THIS FISH WEIGH? .. 6(F)lbs

Continue alongside the river until you reach a curving wave seat.

HOW MANY FISH ARE HERE? .. (S)6

There is a nearby pictoral double gates of a river scene.

HOW MANY FISH ON BOTH GATES? .. (RH)

Now take a seat here to work out the final co-ordinates for the cache.

Co-ords; 56.23.(W-F) T G

003.25 (C+S) F B

The container is slightly larger than micro, with a screw-top. This is a very popular walk, so discretion needed from muggles behind you, above you, and from the overlooking flats! Best to take cache away to a seat to log your visit.

THIS IS A TIDAL RIVER, SO PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS OR DOGS ROAM ABOUT BUT STAY THIS SIDE OF THE RAILINGS AT ALL TIMES.
