Geocache Description:

Flat walk along an old drovers track, linking the Necessity Brae with the south of Perth. Tree roots, stiles and muddy in places.

Pleasant walk along the old drovers link road, between farmland. Can be approached from the east, or a longer walk from the west.

This is a popular walking spot for the locals

Please watch for the barbed wire on ground near the cache.

Beech tree is of the family Fagus, and grows to a height of 20-35 m. It is a deciduous tree with its distinctive domed shape when mature.

The bark is silver-grey in colour and has a smooth appearance. Leaves are oval, toothed and light green becoming darker measuring approx. 6-10 x 4-7 cm. In the Autumn they turn a lovely shade of nut brown. Happy in woodlands free-draining acidic and alkaline soils.

Its flowers are not very distinct due to their green colouring.

Fruit is a small slightly prickly woody cup containing small triangular shaped nuts, which are enjoyed by small birds such as tits and finches, as well as by small rodents.

Letterboxing.

In the cache box you will find a Rubber Stamp and an Ink Pad - these are the signature for this cache. Please take an imprint of the stamp for yourself if you wish to collect them in your own personal notebook. Then leave an imprint of your own personal stamp in the cache log book (if you have one), or simply sign as a traditional log book.

Stamp and Ink remains part of the cache but it might be an idea to carry your own Ink Pad in case the one provided should dry up.

UNFORTUNATELY SOMEBODY HAS REMOVED THE STAMP.

PLEASE TREAT AS A REGULAR CACHE, GC GUIDELINES PREVENT ME FROM CHANGING CACHE TYPE.
