This is the first cache that I have placed in Utah and I have had my eye on Rock Canyon for it's location for a long time. I am surprised that nobody has placed a cache here already. The location provides many wonderful sights. There is a decent view of Utah Valley, but the best thing here is the geology of the canyon. Sitting right below Squaw peak, there are sharply rising rock formations of Quartzite and Limestone. On almost any afternoon, there are rock climbers ascending the Quartzite cliffs across the canyon from the cache. Directly south of the cache, the bench of Y mountain rises steeply toward the peak. And to the east there are more amazing rock formations and views if you choose to go on. I named the cache Ancient Beach because this was once the shoreline of ancient Lake Bonneville

Finding this cache requires a small hike of .25 miles each way. The elevation gain is 170 feet. This cache is definately possible for children. I am 6'2" and 280 pounds and didn't have trouble. Because it is currently summer, PLEASE BRING WATER!! I drank 1.5 liters while hiding the cache. It is hot and dry! The container is a 4 liter Sterilite container with a white lid.
The caches original contents are
- A light up Yo-Yo
- 2 squirt guns
- Mint breath spray still in package
- A glow stick (un-used of course)
- An SUV toy monster truck
- 3 WD-40 shop cloths
- A stone ball
- Log book
I only ask that if you take a toy that you leave something else that a child would enjoy. Good luck!!!
