The Series:
There are ten caches in this series. Each cache contains
one-tenth of a $10,000 bill with a number on it. When you visit
each cache, note the location of the bill segment and the number on
the bill. Use these ten numbers to find the final cache!
A bit of history - Team Alamo's 4000th cache:
Team Alamo's 4000th find was at the first annual geocaching
GBES Navigational Rally at Fallon, Nevada. Farms and ranches
around this city contribute to the area's claim as the "Oasis of
Nevada". In the rally there were 5 checkpoints and 4 route caches
to find along the 50 mile desert course. The checkpoint challenges
were particularly difficult because per the rules we couldn't enter
the coordinates into the GPS, creating a comical scene at every
checkpoint with puzzled geocachers walking around in circles in the
desert looking for the cache marker. A good time was had by
all!
This cache:
Trailhead is off Welch Creek Road in Sunol Regional Wilderness.
The round-trip hike is 6 miles so bring plenty of water. After 1/2
mile the cache location will begin to reveal itself. Although your
GPS indicates a frontal assault, circling around to the rear is
easiest, where a use trail starting at N37 32.871 W121 50.287 is
found. Cache is just a few yards off the use trail so no
bushwacking is required (always the case for my caches). Good
Luck!
