Geocache Description:

First I must explain the name of this cache. When we go to visit my wife's parents on a weekend my father-in-law has a habit of saying, "Gotta sec?" to me. I have learned over time that what this actually means is, "I need assistance with a job that is going to take longer than any of us expected." Be prepared - this multi may take some time to complete. My in-laws' house is located along the route so we'll be watching for you if you're out there on a weekend.

This is a 9 stage multi which also involves some puzzle solving skills along the way. I think it will be challenging at times, easy at others. I had fun creating it and had a few blunders along the way like losing my prescription sunglasses while looking for a spot to hide the final. I had hooked them onto the neck of my shirt and didn't realize they had fallen off until I was several kilometers away in my car. It was a miracle that I found them - you'll see why when you get to the area.

For safety's safe I suggest that you don't do this one alone. You will be on the water and in the water so it's best to have help if you need it.

Good luck!

You WILL need a boat to complete this and it will be a LOT easier if that boat has a motor. You will also need some blank 8.5 x 11 paper and a crayon. Water shoes and gloves are recommended to protect from sharp zebra mussels. A snorkel and goggles or a mask may be helpful if you have them.

1. The posted coords take you to a place where you can park on the shoulder of Hwy 30. I have taken into consideration the fact that you will probably be pulling a boat trailer at any parking locations that I provide.
From this spot you need to search the area west of the highway. Roses were planted in this spot 5 times since 1911. Take the last TWO numbers from each of those 5 years and add them together. Take that total and add it to the last three numbers of both the north and west coordinates listed below to find the next stage.

N44 23.454+total W077 52.278+total

2. Don't be afraid to drive down the road to this waypoint. It might appear as though you can't get to it but you can. At this location you need to find a plaque that begins with 'REDEDICATED TO'. Take a rubbing of this, you will need the information later. From this spot project 1.58 km 101 degrees true north for the next stage.

3. Here you will find three numbers (ABC). Add these three numbers to the last three digits of the following coords:

N44 23.179+ABC W077 51.365+ABC to reach the next waypoint.

4. Three more numbers here (DEF).

Project 1.91 km 437-DEF degrees true north to the next stage.

5. Another three digit number (GHI) from this location will be used in the following calculation:

N44 23.GHI-290 W077 50.GHI+492.
Follow these coords to step #6

6. There is a cache container hidden here but it is not the final. The container is underwater and secured so it won't float away. It is attached to a half-size cinder block with a chain and a carabiner. You do not need to lift the block and cache out of the water - just detach the carabiner and the container is yours. THE OBJECT INSIDE MUST BE RETURNED ONCE YOU HAVE FIGURED OUT THE PUZZLE. There is only one of these so you can't take it with you. Also be VERY careful to replace the cache so it is out of sight and as secure as you found it - try to hide the chain as well. Fishermen frequent the area and a shiny chain in the water might arouse curiousity resulting in the cache being taken. The hint to the puzzle is:
Caching is all about getting to there from here. If you can make the object show you 'to' and 'from' you will also see three numbers (top to bottom) that you can apply to the following coords to get you to stage seven. Call these three numbers XXX.

N44 23.XXX-371 W077 51.XXX

7. The three numbers found here will be called JKL. Also calculate Jx2=M, Kx4=N and M+K=P. Apply to these coords:

N44 22.JKL+018 W077 46.MNP

8. Second last stop! You're very close to the end now. There is a bar code here with an alpha-numeric code too. There is only one number in the code - call it Q.

Q-7=R Q-3=T (Q-T)-3=U T+R=V

Apply to: N44 2R.RQQ W077 4T.TUV

9. This is the last stop. There is a mini digital camera inside for the FTF. A $40 value which is a pretty good reward after a long multi.

THERE IS A STRICT 'NO-TRADES' POLICY WITH THIS CACHE. The land owner only allows caches that contain logbooks. They have allowed for me to leave the camera for the FTF but once it's gone there can be no other trade items left in the container.

I hope you enjoyed the hunt.
